“Love,” in the Wake of Orlando

The artist and designer Frank Viva originally conceived of a silhouetted couple last year, as a celebration of the Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage. (You can see the first iteration of the work below.) He returned to the image in the wake of the shootings in Orlando, for the cover of our June 27th issue. “It’s a celebration of love,” Viva says. “It’s just that simple.”
